SamTouch POS
The SamTouch till for hospitality and retail, on SAM4S terminals, linked to SamTouch Office in the cloud and to apps for the table, kitchen and stockroom.
SamTouch POS is the till in the SamTouch range: Windows software made by YCR Distribution, the Dewsbury company that also imports SAM4S terminals, and built and tested on SAM4S hardware. We sell the two together. We fit the terminal, set SamTouch POS up around your menu and the way you serve, train your team on it and support it afterwards.
How the pieces fit together
The till does the selling. SamTouch Office, the back office in the cloud, holds the menus, prices, stock, loyalty and reports for every till and every site, and sends your changes out to the tills. Six apps work around them:
- OrderPad: order-taking at the table, on an Android handheld or payment handset.
- OrderKiosk: a self-service kiosk where customers order and pay.
- SamTouch Kitchen: kitchen screens, on Windows or Android.
- OrderMe: ordering from the customer’s own phone, on iOS or Android.
- SamView: a free, read-only app for owners to check the figures.
- SamCount: stock-takes on a handheld scanner.
Integrations
SamTouch has ready-made links to the systems below. Tell us which of them you use when we plan your install.
- Payments: PaymentSense (now trading as Dojo), myPOS and Yoyo Wallet.
- Accounting: Xero, posting each day’s sales by category to your nominal codes.
- Staff rotas: Deputy, which uses clock-ins and sales to plan wage costs against takings.
- Table bookings: ResDiary, with bookings passing both ways.
- Online ordering: Mobo2Go, for your own branded ordering website or app.
- Hotels: Mainstay Professional and Mainstay Online, for charging food and drink to a room.
- Online shop: WooCommerce, sharing products and stock between the shop and the website.
- Local search: NearSt, which shows what you have in stock on Google.
- Food labelling: Cybake Infood, for allergen labels and nutrition data.
- Drinks pricing: The Drink Exchange, for stock-market-style drinks prices on screens at the bar.
What it does
Front of house
Tabs aren't tied to one till: staff open a tab on any till, then add to it or settle it on another, and they can sign on with a Dallas key. A new product lands on the right screen as soon as it has a category, layouts can change on a timetable (breakfast to lunch, say), and each product can carry up to six prices for happy hours and other set times. The till also runs scheduled promotions such as 3-for-2, emails receipts instead of printing them, shows the 14 allergens against each product for staff to check (it doesn't replace your own allergen labelling), and brings up a phoning customer's details and past orders with Caller ID.
Table service
A table plan with split bills and quick tendering keeps tables turning. OrderPad puts the till's own screens on an Android handheld, so staff take the order and check allergens at the table and it prints straight to the bar or kitchen. OrderMe lets customers order from their own phone.
Kitchen
SamTouch Kitchen puts every order on screen as a ticket with its table, covers and times, plus a combined prep list across every open order. Orders for later collection can be held back until a set time before they're due, and staff get an alert if an order hasn't gone out. OrderKiosk lets customers order and pay at a self-service screen, with the order sent straight through for preparation.
Back office and reporting
Sales, staff and stock-value reports update as you trade, for the whole business or down to one site or till, with alerts when a void or refund goes through. End of day runs from the till or from SamTouch Office. Staff reports show voids, refunds and average spend per person, which helps spot training needs, alongside basic clocking in and out. SamView, a free read-only app for iOS and Android, puts the headline figures on the owner's phone.
Stock
Count all your stock or just part of it and see the variance, cost recipes from their ingredients to get a suggested sell price, and see low stock flagged on the dashboard. Supplier orders are suggested for you, and stock can be moved between sites. SamCount runs the count on a handheld scanner and can freeze the figures, so the site keeps trading while you count.
Loyalty
Points-based loyalty cards, member-only prices and cashless top-up, with loyalty details shared across every till and site through SamTouch Office. Yoyo Wallet works as a way to pay too: scanning the app takes the payment and adds the customer's stamps.
Cloud and remote access
SamTouch Office runs in the cloud on Microsoft Azure. Change a menu or a price there and it goes out to every till, and sign in from a browser on any computer, tablet or phone. If a till fails, Office holds a snapshot of its set-up so a replacement can be put back how it was; that snapshot isn't a substitute for your own backups.
Payments
Chip and PIN and contactless card payments, Apple Pay and Google Pay included, are integrated with the till through PaymentSense, which now trades as Dojo, and there's a pay-by-link option as well. myPOS is listed as a card payment option too.
